Answer:

During sunrise and sunset, the rays have to travel a larger part of the atmosphere because they are very close to the horizon. Therefore, light other than red is mostly scattered away. Most of the red light, which is the least scattered, enters our eyes. Hence, the sun and the sky appear red.

Answer:

During the sunrise and sunset when the sun is near the Horizon then sunlight has to travel the larger distance as compared to day time. So the light of all the colours (except red colour) scatters away but only the red colour can reach to our eyes due to its highest wavelength. Because higher the wavelength less is the scattering therefore due to the the highest wavelength of red colour, only this colour is able to reach our eyes during the sunrise and sunset.
