at take off, a plane flies a 100 km north before turning to fly 200 km East. how far is its destination from where the plane took off

Find the diagonal distance from the takeoff to the destination:

a² + b² = c²

100² + 200² = c²

c² = 100² + 200²

c² = 50000

c = √50000

c = 100√5 km


Answer: The place is about 100√5 km away from the destination
