At the beginning of a formal letter class 10 CBSE do we have to write only sir or sir/ma’am?

u can write sir nd ma'am both while writing a letter.

well i would recommend u to weite 'madam' instead of ma'am....

we have to write sir / ma'am becoz as we dont know the person is he or she
