At the beginning of a formal letter class 10 CBSE do we have to write only sir or sir/ma’am?

you can write Respect sir/ madam than you will able to get marks respected is just for the sake of simplicity

u can write sir nd ma'am both while writing a letter.
well i would recommend u to weite 'madam' instead of ma'am....

we have to write sir / ma'am becoz as we dont know the person is he or she

usually we write sir and this applies for both males and females
if the receiver is specified as female you can write it as ma'am
should we write ma'am or madam?
depends on u, u can write either of it
no marks will be deducted.... but dont write both
