32/47 is  the proportion of capable college students

Step-by-step explanation:

Let say total Candidates  =  100C

Capable candidates = (40/100)100C = 40C

Incapable Students = 100C - 40C = 60C

Of the candidates who are really capable, 80% pass the tests

= (80/100)40C

= 32C

of the incapable, 25% pass the test.

= (25/100)60C

= 15C

Total Students in college = 32C  + 15C = 47C

the proportion of capable college students   = 32C/47C  = 32/47
