At the end of First Anglo-Maratha war, the Treaty of Saibal agreement was entered between the Marathas and British.
The First Anglo-Maratha war was started in 1775 just as a result of the Treaty of Surat. The end of the First Anglo-Maratha war was initiated with the treaty of Saibal in 1782.
According to this treaty, the Marathas promised the British to let them take over control of the Salsette and Broach and also Marathas will defeat Hyder Ali in Mysore to take over Carnatic.
In return, the British promised to recognize Madhavrao II as a Peshwa.
