End of a Phoenix

Towards the end of its life-cycle the Phoenix builds  a nest of cinnamon twigs . After completing the nest  it ignites it.  It then burns to ashes and from these ashes rise a new Phoenix.

Explanation:

  • The Phoenix is a legendary bird that is mentioned in every mythology of the world.
  • It is mostly represented as a crimson yellow bird bearing features common with a peacock and eagle. In Hindu mythology Garuda, the mount and vehicle of Lord Vishnu bears close resemblance to the Phoenix.
  • The Phoenix has a peculiar end. It is estimated to live for five hundred to fourteen hundred and sixty one years. Towards the end of its life-cycle the Phoenix builds  a nest of cinnamon twigs . After completing the nest  it ignites it.
  • Immediately both the nest and the bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes.
  • From these ashes a new, young phoenix arises. The new phoenix then embalms the ashes of the old phoenix in an egg made of myrrh and deposits it in Heliopolis and the cycle continues.
