Answer:

2:00 pm

Step-by-step explanation:

LCM of 30 and 40 = 120

Thus both bells will ring again at the same time after 120 minutes.

60 minutes = 1 hour

120 minutes = 2 hours

Thus the bells will ring again at the same time at 2 pm.

Given :- At the middle school, the bell rings every 40 minutes to tell the students to change classes. across the street the clock above the city hall chimes every 30 minutes. both the school bell and the clock ring at noon. when will both bells ring again at the same time ?

Solution :-

we know that, the bell will rings again at the same time will be LCM of their individual time.

so, Prime factors of 30minutes and 40 minutes :-

→ 30 = 2 * 3 * 5

→ 40 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 5

→ LCM = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 5 = 120 minutes.

therefore, we can conclude that, both bells will ring again together after 120 minutes or 2 hours.

hence,

→ both of them together again at = Noon(12:00) + 2 hours = 14:00 PM.
