(b) With the Jagirdars.

At the time of independence, most land ownership was with the  Jagirdars.

  • During the period of  Mughal's, Most of Mansabdar's were given salary but some Mansabdar's were given Jagir (a piece of  the land) as the salary.

  • Those Mansabdar's who use to receive jagir to collect the revenue were called as the Jagirdar. It was ensured those revenue's from Jagir was not more than their salary.

  • The mansabdar's who use to get paid in cash were called as Naqdi & those who were paid through jagir were Jagirdar.

  • The Jagirdar system, form of the land tenancy is developed in the India during Muslim rule (beginning in early 13 th century) where the collection of revenue's of an estate & the power of governing it were very mush bestowed on an official of state.

Hence the answer is Option B jagirdars .
