Apart from Iron and Steel based Industry set up in Jasmshedpur area, there were iron and steel industries in Burnpur district of West Bengal and also in Vishweswaraya(or Vishvesvaraya) iron and steel works developed in Mysore.

The Burnpur plant was set up and developed in thew year 1919 while the Visweswaraya iron and steel plant was set up and developed in the year 1923.

Hence these were developed during the pre-independence years and they were managed well.
