Answer:
Explain how the longest stage of the cell division plays an important role for the growth of a plant which is mentioned on the above stem.
The longest stage of cell division in plants is Prophase. Prophase is the first stage of mitosis in animal cells, and the second stage of mitosis in plant cells.
In early prophase, the cell starts to break down some structures and build up and sets the stage for division of the chromosomes. And in late prophase (also known as prometaphase), the mitotic spindle begins to capture and organize the chromosomes. Naturally nuclear envelop breaks down and releases the chromosomes. As a result, the mitotic spindle grows more and some of the microtubules start to capture chromosomes.
Analyze the importance of the special process on the plants life which is answered by Nidhita’s mother on the above stem.
The special process on the plants life that is answered by Nidhita’s mother is Osmosis. Osmosis plays a significant role in the water relationship of plants. Some of the important roles played by osmosis in the life of any plant are analyzed bellow:
- It is a mean by which plant cells maintain their water content despite the loss of water to the air that is constantly occurring.
- It provides turgidity to the softer tissues and is, therefore, essential for their mechanical support.
- It controls the absorption of water by root hairs from the soil.
- Diffusion pressure deficit is responsible for the movement of water across the cortical cell of the roots.
- Cell to cell diffusion of water is also affected by osmosis.
- Conduction of water from xylem elements to the neighboring cell is controlled by osmosis.
- Growing rips of roots remain turgid because of osmosis and are, thus, able to penetrate into the soil.
- It greatly influences the meristematic activity of the cells and hence growth of the plant.
