Question:-

At what altitude the value of g becomes ¼ that on earth surface?

Solution:-

As we move up down from earth suface the value of gravity changes.

As we move up gravity is defined as:-

g'=g(1-2h/R)

As we move up gravity is defined as:-

g'=g(1+2h/R)

Now directly applying formula:-

g/4=g(1-2h/R)

h=3R/8
