- The force of friction between the earth and body is given by:

F = μ × R

m × a = μ × m × g

a =  (μ × g)

as the body will stop, it means its acceleration is negative

so, we use a = - (μ × g)

- By using third equation of motion, we get

v² - u² = 2 × a × s

v² - u² = 2 × - (μ × g) × s

0 - (10)² = 2 × -0.4 × 9.8 × s

s = -100 / -7.84

s = 12.755 m
