Explanation

Gravitational potential at some height H from the surface of the Earth is given by

v = - GM / R + h _[i]

And the acceleration due to gravity at some height h from surface of the earth is given by

V = - GM / (R + h )^2 _[ii]

From Eq [i] and [ii], we get

| V | / g' = ( GM / R + h ) × ( R + h )^2

| V | / g' = R + h _[iii]

V = -5.4 × 10^7 Jkg^-2 and g' = 6.0 ms^-2

Radius of the earth, R = 6400 km

Substitute these values in Eq [iii] we get

5.4 × 10^7 / 6.0 = R + h => 9 × 10^6 = R + h

=> h = ( 9 - 6.4 ) × 10^6 = 2.6 × 10^6 m

=> h = 2600km

∴ H = 2600 km !
