Let’s name the points as A ( -3,5) and B (4,2)

Let point C ( x , y ) divides AB in m : n ratio or m/n: 1 or we can take k : 1 where k = m / n

So C divides AB in K : 1 ratio

using section formula ( m x₂ + n x₁ / m + n , m y₂ + n y₁ / m + n )

Coordinates of C are ( k (4) + 1(-3) / k + 1 , k (2) + 1(5) / k + 1 )

But C is a point of Y axis there for x = 0

k (4) + 1(-3) / k + 1 = 0

4k -3 = 0

k = ¾

Since ratio is k : 1

There for ¾ : 1 = 3 : 4

So required ratio is 3 : 4
