Answer:

To find:

Temperature at which reading of Farenheit and Celsius scale is same.

Conversation formula:

C/5 = (F - 32)/9

This can be derived by using a simple technique i.e.

(Reading - LP)/(HP - LP) = constant,

where LP = lower point

and HP = higher point.

Calculation:

Let the reading be "x"

So putting x in place of "C" and "F"

x/5 = (x - 32)/9

=> 9x = 5x - 160

=> 4x = -160

=> x = -40

so ,the reading is same at -40 °C and -40 °F.

Question :-----

  • temperature are the readings of celsius scale and fahrenheit scale equal ?

Formua used :---

  • C = 5/9 ( F - 32) where C = degree celsius and F is fahrenheit .....

Solution :------

Let they both are equal at x .

putting in formula , and solving we get,,,

x =  \frac{5}{9} (x - 32) \\  \\ 9x = 5(x - 32) \\  \\ 9x = 5x - 160 \\  \\ 9x - 5x =  - 160 \\  \\ 4x =  - 160 \\  \\ x =  \frac{ \cancel{ - 160}}{ \cancel4}  \\  \\ x =  - 40

Hence , they are same at -40°C or -40°F ......
