Answer:

The Fahrenheit and Celsius scales have one point at which they intersect. They are equal at -40 °C and -40 °F. The simple method to find when two temperature scales are equal to each other is to set the conversion factors for the two scales equal to each other and solve for temperature.

The temperature where degrees centigrade is the same in degrees Fahrenheit is -40 degrees or -40 Fahrenheit.

Explaining how we get the above answer:

Formula for Fahrenheit, F = 9/5C + 32

Formula for Centigrade, C = 5/9 (F-32)

Let's consider F = C,

F = C = 5/9(F-32) = (5F-160)/9

9F = 5F - 160

4F = -160

F = -160/4

F = -40 degrees(in terms of Fahrenheit)

Next consider C = F,

C = F = 9/5 C + 32

C = (9C + 160)/5

5C  = 9C + 160

5C - 9C = 160

-4C = 160

C = 160/-4

C = -40 degrees(in terms of Centigrades)
