(it produces a red glow at lower temperatures)
Tungsten is a metal with the symbol W and atomic no. 74,
it has the highest melting point of all metals and hence can withstand such high temperatures without melting ( it does glow though).
it has a high tensile strength and isn't brittle
and it doesn't evaporate very easily at high temperature either...
so they are used at the filament for a light bulb
