A mineral oil occurring in subsurface rocks and at the surface which is a naturally occurring mixture of hydrocarbon and nonhydrocarbon compounds.
Most of India's crude oil reserves are located on the western coast (Mumbai High) and in the southeastern parts of the country, although considerable undeveloped reserves are also located in the offshore Bay of Bengal and in the state of Rajasthan.
