THE RESTORING FORCE IS MINIMUM AT MEAN POSITION.

  • Let's assume an SHM as :

x = a \sin( \omega t)

  • "x" is displacement, \omega is angular frequency , t is time and a is amplitude.

Now, the acceleration (after 2nd order differentiation of displacement function) will be :

a =  -  { \omega}^{2}a \sin( \omega t)

 \implies a =  -  { \omega}^{2} \{a \sin( \omega t)  \}

 \implies a =  -  { \omega}^{2} x

 \implies F =  - m { \omega}^{2} x

Now, for minimum force , value of x has to be zero for F to be zero.

  • This is possible only at mean position of the SHM.
