Answer:

1

The stone was also accelerating with acceleration 1.25m/s² with balloon.

The balloon was at height h=1/2at²=1/2(1.25)(100)=62.5m when the stone was released.

So,now stone is at height 62.5 from ground and going up with initial velocity v=at=1.25×10=12.5m/s

The stone will go upward until its velocity becomes zero due to gravitational acceleration.

Height traveled by stone before its upward velocity becomes 0 is

v²=u²+2as

0=(12.5)²+2(-10)H

H=156.25/20=7.81

Maximum height by stone=62.5+7.81=70.31m

2

Time taken by stone to reach the ground:

Let upward direction is positive and downward is negative.

When the stone is thrown,it is at height 62.5m and going up with velocity 12.5m/s

H=ut+1/2gt²

-62.5=12.5t + 1/2(-10)t²

-125=25t-10t²

2t²-5t-25=0

2t²-10t+5t-25=0

2t(t-5)+5(t-5)=0

(2t+5)(t-5)=0

t=5sec
