Answer :-
- Acceleration is 2.5 m/s².
Explanation :-
Given :-
A car is miving in a straight line from rest and travels at a distance of 20 m in 4 seconds with constant acceleration.
Required to Find :-
Acceleration - ?
Equations used :-
Second equation of Motion :
s = ut + ½ at²
[ Where, a is acceleration ]
Solution :-
Putting, the values of s, u and the in the formula,
- Multiplying the terms ( a and 16 = 16a )
- Taking 2 to L.H.S.
- Multiplying 20 and 2 = 40
- Dividing 40 by 16
Hence,
- Acceleration is 2.5 m/s².
Knowledge Bytes :-
➵ The rate of change if velocity with respect to time is called acceleration.
➵ Velocity is the speed at which something moves in one direction.
➵ Pressure is the force acting on a unit area of the object.
➵ SI unit of measuring pressure is 'newtons per square metre' (N/m²) which is also called as pascals (Pa).
QUESTION:-
A car is moving in a straight line from rest and travels a distance 20 m in 4 s with constant acceleration. Calculate this acceleration.
EXPLANATION:-
- Initial velocity(u)= 0 m/s (The car starts from rest)
- Distance(S)=20 m
- Time(t)=4 s
- Acceleration(a)= ??
Using the 2nd eqⁿ of kinematics we have-:
Where ,
S=Distance(Displacement)
u=initial velocity
t=times
a=acceleration .
Putting values
So the acceleration is 2.5 m/s²
