atomic number is considered a more appropriate parameter than atomic mass as there are some elements which are heavier than their succeeding element but they have a perfect order of atomic number..
Hope it will help... have a great time bye

Answer:
The properties of the elements are linked with the electronic configuration of their atoms. The elements take part in chemical combination or chemical reaction by either transference or sharing of electrons. Now, atomic mass or mass number relates only to the nucleus of the atom and has nothing to do with the electrons. On the other hand, the atomic number has a direct link with the electrons present in an atom. Therefore, it is a better basis for the classification of the elements then the atomic mass of the elements.
