Atomic number of an element is 16 whrite its electronic configetion find the number of velence electrons and velency

The electronic configuration is 2,8,6

It has 6 numbers of valence electrons(no.of electrons in outermost shell)

Since it has the tendency to gain 2 electrons to complete its octet, it's valency is -2
