“Atomic number of an element is considered to be more appropriate parameter than its

atomic mass for a chemist.” Take the example of the element X (atomic number 13 to justify

Explanation:

Atomic number of an element is considered to be more appropriate than its atomic mass as, atomic number of an element is the number of protons in nucleus of that element  which is FIXED FOR THAT PARTICULAR ELEMENT!

Whereas atomic mass is number of protons + number of neutrons

and here is the problem we face because number of neutrons may vary in the same atoms which is known as ISOTOPE

For example element X atomic number 13 is Aluminium it has 13 protons which is fixed and never changes but it has different number of neutrons which may vary it's atomic mass

It has 2 Isotopes Al²⁶ and Al²⁷
