Hey mate ...

if atomic number== 12

So Electronic configuration of Magnesium (Mg)

== 2,8,2 ....

So, valency of an element is the no. of atom present in the outermost shell of that electron

so, here the no. of atom present in the outermost shell is 2....

So..

Valency of Mg.. ====== 2....

Mark as brainliest if it helped uh ...

\textbf{ANSWER-}

HOW TO FIND VALENCY-

Valency is the combining capacity of an atom. Atomic number of an atom is crucial to determine the valency of an atom.

If the valence electrons in a shell are 4 or less than 4, then the valency will be the number of valence electrons

(Valence electrons is the number of electrons in the last shell)

Example-

Aluminium

Electronic Configuration - 2,8,3

3>4

Hence it's valency is 3

If the valence electrons is greater than 4 then valency is

8 - Valence electrons

Example

Electronic.Configuration of Chlorine- 2,8,7

Valency = 8-7 = 1

VALENCY OF MAGNESIUM

Electronic.Configuration of Magnesium - 2.8.2

2>4

Hence

Valency = 2
