The atomic number and mass number of sodium are 11 and 23 respectively.

This suggests that number of proton in sodium =11 and number of nucleons i.e. proton and neutrons in sodium =23. Thus, number of neutrons =12 and also Since no. of protons = no. of electrons =11

So, they are similar.

Answer:

It will form anion if it looses electron and cation if it gains electron . Total number of Electrons will be 11 .Valency of Sodium – Atomic number of sodium is 11. Its electronic configuration is 2,8,1. So, it's clear that sodium needs to lose one electron to attain stability by completing its octet. Thus, its valency is 1.

Hope it helps u !!
