Atomic radii of some elements C,Li,N,O,B and Be are 77,152,74,152,74,66,88 and 111pm Rearrange them in incresing order of atomic radius as we move from left to right in a period.Give reason.

Heya friend!!
Rajdeep here...
This is a Chemistry question...
Whenever you move from left to right across a period, the atomic radius (size) of elements gradually decreases.
Why??
Because, as you move from left to right, the number of shells remain the same, but the number of valence electrons increase by one. As a result, the nuclear pull on the valence electrons gradually increases, due to which, the atomic size decreases. Thus, we can conclude that for a particular period, the element with the largest atomic size is the element placed at the left-most place, and the element with the smallest size is placed in the right corner.
Note: Noble gases are exceptional, as because they have a complete outer shell configuration, so they are of larger size.
Now, to arrange the above elements in increasing order of their atomic size,
F<O<N<C<B<Be<Li
Flourine is the smallest and Lithium is the largest...
Hope my answer is satisfactory...
Thanks!!
