atomic weight of chlorine is 35.5. It has two isotopes of atomic weight 35 and 37. what is the percentage of heavier isotope in the sample?

relative atomic mass = (% x mass of first isotope) + (% x mass of second isotope)
Let % of first isotope be x%=x/100 ,%of second isotope =100-x/100
# x/100 * 35 + x-100/100 *37 =35.5
on solving we get x=75
mass of heavier isotope =100-75 =25
therefore % of heavier isotope is 25%
