Vertebrates :

  • The nerve cord of vertebrates are dorsal and hollow.

  • Their heart is ventral.

  • Their epidermis is formed by many layers.

  • Haemoglobin is present in vertebrates inside the RBCs.

  • Cranium is present in vertebrates called craniata.

  • Endoskeleton is present which is formed of cartilage or bones.

  • Their alimentary canal end which anus.

  • Their skin is covered by hairs and feathers.

Sub-phylum vertebrata is divided into six classes :

1. Chondruchthyes

  • Chondron - Cartilage; ichthyes - fish
  • Example - sharks, sawfishes and electric fish etc.

2. Osteichthyes

  • Example - Lung fish, catla and hippocampus etc.

3. Amphibia

4. Reptilia

5. Aves
