Answer:
man's abusive behavior over the last 150 years has caused tremendous damage to the earth's topsoil resulting in vast land degradation such as erosion, deforestation, waterlogging and a decline in soil fertility. Land degradation has become a critical global issue because of its harmful effects on agronomic productivity, the ecosystem, as well as its impact on food security along with the quality of everyday life.
Land degradation is any kind of alternation in the overall condition of the soil which decreases its actual productive capabilities. It is primarily caused by a number of human-induced operations acting against the land, which includes quarrying, overpopulation, intense farming, land clearing and rural to urban migration.
