The water equivalent of copper calorimeter is 4.5g, the specific heat of copper is 0.09 calg
Among the following incorrect one is
a) Mass of calorimeter is 0.5 kg
b) Thermal capacity of calorimeter is 4.5 cal
c) Heat required to raise the temperature of the calorimeter by 8°C will be 36 cal
d) Heat required to melt 15g of ice placed in the calorimeter will be 1200 cal.

Answer:

a)

Explanation:

A) water equivalent is defined as the weight of water that absorbs the same amount of heat for the same change in temperature that the material undergoes.

Therefore In this case 4.5gms has the same thermal capacity of the copper container

MS=4.5(1)

Given that S for copper is 0.09;

M=mass of copper container=50gms or 0.05Kg

B) Thermal capacity of calorimeter is 4.5 as proved above

C) MS(ΔT)=8(50)(0.09)=36cal

D) Q=l(Δm)=(80)(15)=1200cal

Note that l is the latent heat of fusion of ice which is independent of the material in which ice is kept!!

Hope this helps you!!
