Hi friend,
All sounds that we can hear through our ears are known as audible sounds and all those sounds that we fail to hear from our ears are known as inaudible sounds.
An audible sound has to have a certain minimum loudness that a human ear able to detect, the threshold on hearing.
Therefore the range between 20Hz to 20,000Hz.
Inaudible sounds having a frequency of less than 20Hz are known as infrasonic sounds.
Inaudible sounds having frequency more than 20,000Hz are known as ultrasonic sounds. Example-> Bats are able to find their way at night by producing and detecting sounds of frequency more than 20,000Hz.
Animals like leopards, deer's, monkeys, can also hear ultrasonics. There are special whistles are known as galtons, whistles that can produce sounds of frequency more than 20,000Hz.
Hope it helps..................
