Aurangzeb was the last ruler of the great Mughals.He ruled for 49 years .During his reign ,the Mughal empire reached the largest size,covering nearly the whole of India.But Aurangzeb did not have a vision as a ruler.

He reintroduced the Jaziya which made him unpopular

He destroyed many temples

He followed the policy of interference of in the affairs of Rajput states of Marwar and Mewar.

He increased the land revenues.

Aurangzeb was a strict disciplinarian .He was an orthodox God fearing Muslim.

Due to all these facts Aurangzeb never ruled with peace and become unpopular.

i. The Strict and intolerant nature of his policies.

ii. Imposing of Jaziya on the non-Muslims.

iii. Interferences in the royal affairs of the Rajputs.

iv. Powerful, experienced and corrupt nobles.

In fact, the short-sighted policies of Aurangzeb created a lot of dissatisfaction

among the masses that eventually led to the decline of the Mughal Empire.
