Aurangzeb turned his attention towards Adilshah and Qutubshahi Kingdoms due to the following reasons and sequence of happenings, listed abstractly below-

•        In around the year 1683, the King Abul Hasan Qutub Shah was falling loose and irregularities in payment of taxes from his side were observed.

•        Further Qutub Shah’s terms with Sikandar Ali Shah were also a concern to the Mughals.

•        Qutub Shah growing his steps in this adverse direction refused to be the vassal of the Mughals and denied living in subordination. This turned Aurangzeb’s interest towards Golconda and a move to assert Mughal rule there. Aurangzeb sent his son there to invade  and they attacked there.

•        Sikandar Adil Shah was captured and sent to Daulatabad fort in captivity.

•        Following this and his death in captivity the Adil Shah dynasty and rule came to an end.

•        And with the defeat of Abul Hasan Qutub Shah, the Qutub Shah rule and dynast came to its end and there was the establishment of the rule of the Mughals.

•        Another reason attributed to Aurangzeb’s distrust with the two rulers is they being ‘Shia-Muslims’.
