Answer:

An important fact regarding delegation of authority is that only the authority can be delegated and not the responsibility. An officer can delegate some of his authorities to his subordinates and get their help in his work but ultimate responsibility of work will remain with him. If the enterprise suffers any loss on his account, he will be held responsible. Thus, it may be concluded that authority can be delegated but not the responsibility. In first example, marketing manager cannot escape from liability. He will be fully responsible for the failure of sales managers in achieving their targets. He can delegate his authority but not the responsibility. In second example also, manager will remain responsible for the quality of work that he has delegated to his subordinates. ← Prev QuestionNext Question → Related questions +1 vote 1 answer “Authority can be delegated but accountability cannot.” Explain the statement. asked Feb 23 in Business Studies by Falak (66.3k points) organizations cbse class-12 0 votes 1 answer “Authority and responsibility must go together.” explain. asked Feb 23 in Business Studies by Falak (66.3k points) organizations cbse class-12 0 votes 1 answer On the basis of delegation, compare authority, responsibility and accountability. asked Feb 23 in Business Studies by Falak (66.3k points) organizations cbse class-12 0 votes 1 answer “A manager is of the view that he is not responsible for the quantity of work that he has delegated asked Feb 23 in Business Studies by Falak (66.3k points) organizations cbse class-12 0 votes 1 answer Scope of decentralization of authority is wider than delegation.
