banyan tree was born on 26 january 1814.it usually started life by growing on another plant as an epipyhte. it seed germinate in the cracks and crevices on host tree or on another structures like buildings and bridges 'banyan' usually means indian banyan or ficus benghalensis.

Autobiography Of A Banyan Tree

I am a Banyan tree and I was born on one side of a road some hundred and fifty years ago. I cannot remember how was I born. At my tender age cows and goats would very often eat my newly sprouted green leaves. However I began to be nursed and nourished well by the earth and the sun. Today I have been developed to a tree having a huge body with a number of branches and numerous leaves.

Now I can give shelter to birds and men. They are benefitted a lot in my company. Birds build their nests on my branches and satisfy their hunger with my fruits. When the golden sun rays of the morning are spread everywhere of the nature,they start flying through the blue sky leaving their nests and come back in every evening. The travellers, being tired and weary in summer days take shelter under my shade and lie down there to take rest.

Since the days of my birth I have seen so many sorrowful and joyful events. I have witnessed many wedding and funeral procession to pass by me. I have seen the murderers to murder many men on the road beside me in date of Nights. I have seen the thieves and robbers to distribute their shares among themselves coming under me. Though I do not like all these things I cannot prevent them from committing such sins. But I hate people who give me pain by cutting my branches.
