autobiography of a lentil keeping in mind its health benefits
Answers
My name is lentil. I grew on a bushy annual plant of the legume family which is known for its lens shaped seeds. the plant was 40 cm tall. I was in one of the pods with one more seed. My master plucked me and gave me to his wife along with the other lentils.
He told her that my friends and I were very good for health. It is then that I came to know that I can help to lower cholesterol with my soluble fiber. I am a great source of folate and magnesium which look after heart health. My fiber helps to prevent digestive diorders. I can help in stabilizing blood sugar levels. Compared to legumes and nuts I possess the third highest level of protein. And am considered a wonderful source of protein for vegetarians and vegans. I have iron which is needed for energy production and metabolism. Last but not the least, I am very useful for dieting, as I am low in calories and contain virtually no fat.
My master's wife was very happy to hear all this and decided to cook immediately. She put some oil, garlic and onion, and some spices in the cooker. Then she put my friends and me in the pressure cooker. Finally she added some water. The cooker whistled a few times. Listening to the whistles we felt like we were sitting in a train and enjoyed ourselves.
When the steam was out, my master's wife opened the cooker and poured us in a dish. She decorated us with some garnishing. The master was very pleased to see us on the table.
