THIS IS THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF SUN TEMPLE
It was built in the 13th century by the king Narasimhadeva I of Eastern Ganga at Konark in Odisha, India. My name is the Sun Temple of Konark. Elaborately carved stone wheels, pillars and walls were used to put together this gigantic architectural marvel that I am. Although I have been neglected over the years, I am still considered to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a pride for India. The name Konark comes from the combination of the Sanskrit words, Kona meaning corner and arka meaning sun which when brought together becomes a dedication to the Sun god Surya. I am also called the Black Pagoda which was a name conferred on me by European sailors, in contrast to the Jagannath Temple in Puri that was called the White Pagoda. Originally, the river Chandrabhaga was close by but now the waterlines has receded. My body is in the form of an ornamental chariot for the Sun god Surya.
