Introduction
Who am I? What am I doing here at CodeProject? Well, I’ll answer myself all these questions and others.
I am a ComboView control. You might think, well what’s that? Well, I am a ComboBox with the capability of displaying columnar items in a ListView. Well, you might ask, there are lot of other similar controls available, then what’s so special about me. Nothing, the only difference being I am going to narrate to you how I had been brought to life, and on this journey to my creation, the lessons learned by my creator.
We are asked to write an autobiography of a window. The autobiography of the window will be as under:
I am not an ordinary window. I was gifted by the magician to his son. The magician was very famous and had to go on world tours. The son was left at this house alone as he used to go to school. This was the reason the magician made me. I was a magical window when the son used to put his hand through me and wish for whatever he wanted he used to get it.
The son and I were leading a very nice life. I used to be happy to feed him delicious food and he used to narrate to me what he did the whole day when he was in school.
Finally, he reached the tenth standard and was studying very hard. I used to watch him study from the side of the room. Even though it was his exam he never forgot to eat healthy food.
When the results came. Suddenly instead of the hand of the boy, I felt the entire body go through me and fall right down. I was only a square box with no hands so could not hold on to him.
Later his father came to this house. He was crying saying my son died because of me. If I was close by I would have saved him. I would not have cared if he failed his tenth exam. Finally, I realized everything that had to happen but unfortunately, I was a square box and could not do anything. I was shut off completely as now there was no use for me.
