Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam of 15 October, 1931 – 27 July 2015 was an Indian politician and aerospace scientist who served as 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.  

Born and brought up at Rameswaram i.e. Tamil Nadu where he studied physics and aerospace engineering.  

Kalam worked four decades as science administrator at DRDO and ISRO and involved in India's civilian space programme and military missile developments.  

Afterwards his name becomes Missile Man of India for his work on development of ballistic missile and vehicle technology.  

He played an organisational, technical as well as a political role in India's Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998 the first since original nuclear test by India in 1974.

Kalam was elected as 11th President of India in 2002 with support of BJP and opposition INC.

Hugely called as "People's President" he returned to his education, writing and public service.  

Recipient of various prestigious awards which includes Bharat Ratna i.e. India's highest civilian honour.

During giving a speech at IIM Shillong he fell down and died from myocardial infarction on 27 July 2015 at an age of 83.
