No that's not true that you should repent in the long run by availing your chances. But yes, you might get some ups and downs but at last you will reach the spark of success. There will be repent if you don't take chance in your life. Taking risk is better than doing nothing by missing the chance. If you take chance and try your best, there will be something in your life than nothing. Then you will be proud of yourself and remember the chance you used. And you will realise something that you reached atleast till there. So, don't give up and don't miss any chance which is useful in your life by thinking that you should repent further.
