Let the present age of Avantika be x years.

Similarly, refer to the age of Krishna be y years.

So, ATQ -

• Moving along with First case we get,

$\: \: \: \: \: \: \: x = y +5 \\\implies x-y = 5 ---(i)$

• In similar way, moving along with. second case we get,

$\: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: x-1=2(y-1)\\\implies x - 1 = 2y-2 \\\implies x -2y = -1 ---(ii)$

Subtracting (i) from (ii),

$\: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: x - 2y -(x - y)= -1 -(5)\\\implies -y = -6\\\implies y = 6$

Now, substituting value of y into (i),

$\: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: x-(6) = 5\\\implies x=11$

So, by solving given pair we get,

Age of Avantika = 11 years (= x years)

& age of Krishna = 6 years (= y years)
