Answer:

42.5

Step-by-step explanation:

given average age of all employess is 40

M+F=40*210

M+F=8400

given F:M=1:2

1x+2x=210

3x=210

x=70

therefore F=70 M=140

given avg of F so sum of ages of F=35*70

total age of M= total sum of ages of M and F - age of F

M=5950

THEREFORE    AVG OF M= 5950/140 =42.5

Given :  average age of a female employees of a retail outlet is 35 years. the total no. of employees is 210.

the overall ratio of the female and male staff is 1:2 .

the total average of the employee s is 40 years.

To find:  the average age of the male employees

Solution:

the overall ratio of the female and male staff is 1:2 .

Female = x

Male = 2x

Total = 3x

Average age of Female employee  = 35

Total Age of x female  Employees = 35x

Assume Average age of Male employee  =  y

Total Age of 2x  Male  Employees = 2xy

Total age = 35x + 2xy  = x( 35  + 2y)

Average age of an employee = 40

Total age of 3x employees = 40 * 3x = 120x

Equate total age

x( 35  + 2y)  = 120x

=> 35 + 2y = 120

=> 2y  = 85

=> y = 42.5

Hence  average age of the male employee is  42.5  years
