His son's present age be s
Average
(f+s)/2 = 24 yrs
so sum of their ages = 24*2 = 48
f+s = 48
now given that f:s = 11:5
f/s=11/5
f=(11/5)s
(11/5)s+s=48
s(16/5) = 48
s= 15
f= 48-s = 33
so ratio of their ages after 3 years is
(f+3) / (s+3)
36/18 = 2/1
so answer is 2:1
