i.e., ( x + y ) / 2 = 28

x + y = 56

→ x / y = 3 / 1

→ x = 3y

→ 56 - y = 3y ___ [ From (1) ]

→ 56 = 4y

Putting y = 14 in eq(1) , We get

x = 56 - 14 = 42
