average marks of 40 students is = 90 average marks of top 5 are = 97 Average markers of remaining 35 students are = ?

Total marks scored by 40 students =90x40=3600
Total marks scored by top 5 students =5x97= 485
So remaining will be scored by 35 students
3600-485=3115
Average =3115/35=89
