let the numbers be x,x+1,x+2,x+3,x+4 so by adding them and dividing it with 5 and equal to 20 will give us ans
(x+x+1+x+2+x+3+x+4)/5=20     by sending 5 to right side we get  5x+10=100 5x=90 x=18  so the consecutive numbers are 18,19,20,21,22

The largest number is 22 if Average of 5 consecutive numbers is 20

Given:

Average of 5 consecutive numbers is 20

To Find:

Largest number

Solution:

Assume that five consecutive numbers are

x  , x + 1 , x + 2 , x + 3 , x + 4

Sum of 5 consecutive numbers

= x  + (x + 1) + (x + 2) + (x+3) + (x + 4)

= 5x + 10

Average of 5 consecutive numbers

= (5x + 10)/5

= x + 2

Equate x + 2 with given average 20

x  + 2 = 20

=> x = 18

Largest number is x + 4

Substitute x = 18

Largest number = 18 + 4 = 22

The largest number is 22 if Average of 5 consecutive numbers is 20
