Answer:

A car travels at 30km/h in the first second, at 40km/h in the next two seconds, and at 50km/h in the next three seconds. What’s the average speed?

Distance travelled in 30 km/h speed=

30×5÷18×1 m(Time taken= 1s)=8.3 m(approx)

Distance in 40 km/h speed=

40×5÷18×2 m( time taken = 2s)=22.2m (approx)

Distance in 50 km/h speed=

50×5÷18×3 m (Time=3 s)= 41.6 m(approx)

Total distance = 22.2+41.6+8.3=72.1 m(approx)

Total time= 6 secs

Average speed= total distance/total time taken = 72.1÷6=12.01 m/s

Average speed= 12.01 m/s= 12.01×18÷5km/hr =43.236 km/hr (approx)

Note: For converting Km/hr to m/sec, multiply the magnitude( like 30 in first case) by 5÷18. For converting m/s to Km/hr, multiply the magnitude with 18÷5.
