Given :- Average supply of water is 1,32,000 L per month. Average supply for first ten days is 2000L per day and 5000L per day for the next 15 days. What amount of water needs to be supplied in the next five days to maintain the average ?
A) 7400
B) 37000
C) 35000
D) None of these.
Solution :-
we know that,
- Average = (sum of data) / (total number of data).
given that,
→ Average supply for first 10 days is = 2000L
So,
→ Average = (Total supply of water) / (Number of days.)
→ 2000 = (Total supply of water) / 10
→ Total supply of water = 2000 * 10 = 20000 L .
Similarly,
→ Average supply for next 15 days is = 5000L
So,
→ Average = (Total supply of water) / (Number of days.)
→ 5000 = (Total supply of water) / 15
→ Total supply of water = 5000 * 15 = 75000 L .
Now, we also given that, Average supply of water is 1,32,000 L per month.
Than,
→ Total supply of water for first 10 days + Total supply of water for next 15 days + Total supply of water for left 5 days = Total supply of water per month.
→ 20000 + 75000 + Total supply of water for left 5 days = 132000
→ 95000 + Total supply of water for left 5 days = 132000
→ Total supply of water for left 5 days = 132000 - 95000
→ Total supply of water for left 5 days = 37000 L . (Ans.) (Option B).
Hence, the amount of water needs to be supplied in the next five days to maintain the average is 37000 L.
Also, if we need to find the average for last 5 days , then it will be :-
→ Average supply of water for left 5 days = (Total supply of water for left 5 days) / (Total Number of days.)
→ Average supply of water for left 5 days = 37000 / 5
→ Average supply of water for left 5 days = 7400 L .
