Calculating average speed requires to take into consideration only the magnitude(value) of total distance travelled and total time required to cover the distance.Whereas,in case of calculating average velocity,We need to consider the magnitude as well as direction of the displacement along with the total time taken for the displacement as velocity is a vector quantity.
